Kilimanjaro

Mount Kilimanjaro is Africa’s highest mountain, standing at 5,895 meters (19,341 feet) above sea level. Located in northeastern Tanzania, it is the world’s tallest free-standing mountain and one of the most famous trekking destinations on Earth. The mountain is made up of two peaks Kibo and Mawenzi. Although dormant, Kibo still has the potential for future volcanic activity. In 1987, Mount Kilimanjaro was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site due to its outstanding natural beauty and ecological importance.

Best Time to Climb Kilimanjaro

Kilimanjaro can be climbed throughout the year, but the best conditions are during the dry seasons:

  • January to March – Cooler temperatures, fewer crowds, and occasional snow at the summit.
  • June to October – The most popular season with clear skies, dry trails, and excellent visibility.

The rainy seasons, April to May and November, are less ideal due to muddy trails and reduced visibility.
